Our Mission
The Nationwide Regional Risk and Resilience Collaborative provides an independent forum for cross-sector, jurisdiction, and discipline practitioners and experts to share insights on needs and best practices and advance actions to reduce risk and improve all-hazards resilience of regions and communities and the interdependent infrastructures that support them.
Background
The NR3C, formerly called the Regional Collaborative Coordinating Council (RC3), was established in 2008 by regional resilience collaboratives and experts as a coordination body at the national level. Its mission from the start has been to share information on and identify resilience needs and potential improvement actions to help better understand multi-hazard risks and build resilience capacities of regions, communities, and supporting interdependent infrastructures. The reason for the name change was to better reflect the Collaborative's
- Expanding participation from all levels of government, the private sector, academe, national and regional associations, and non-profit organizations; and
- Its evolving mission to address a rapidly changing risk landscape characterized by increasing occurrence, intensity, and costs of natural and manmade events and emerging new threats and vulnerabilities.
Today, the NR3C has more than 150 diverse practitioners and experts who meet virtually to hear about and share resilience needs, solutions, and best practices and produce guidance on reducing risk and improving regional resilience. The NR3C is volunteer with no institutional affiliation. We hold quarterly meetings and have work groups on key areas of participant interest that meet more often.
