Our Mission

The Nationwide Regional Risk and Resilience Collaborative provides an independent forum for cross-sector, jurisdiction, and discipline practitioners and experts to share insights on needs and best practices and advance actions to reduce risk and improve all-hazards resilience of interdependent infrastructures and the regions and communities they support.

Background

The NR3C, formerly called the Regional Collaborative Coordinating Council (RC3), was established in 2008 by regional resilience collaboratives and experts as a coordination body at the national level.  Its mission has been to share information on, and identify resilience needs, activities, and potential improvement actions to help build resilience capacities of regions, communities, and supporting infrastructures. The reason for the name change was to better reflect the Collaborative's

  • Expanding participation from all levels of government, the private sector, academe, national and regional associations, and non-profit organizations; and
  • Its evolving mission to address a rapidly changing risk landscape characterized by increasing occurrence, intensity, and costs of natural and manmade events and emerging new threats and vulnerabilities.
